With the release of the new ICH-GCP E6 (R3) guidelines on the horizon, Boehringer Ingelheim faced a familiar but time-critical challenge: how to ensure that all impacted employees were adequately trained on the upcoming regulatory changes — in a consistent, scalable, and efficient manner.
The requirement was to create:
- A foundational GCP (R3) training course aligned with the new guidelines.
- An eLearning solution compatible with their internal LMS.
- Co-ownership and input in the design while relying on ECCRT’s content and development expertise.

- Content & Instructional Design: ECCRT developed the course content, structured around Bloom’s taxonomy, and wrote all adaptive knowledge check questions.
- Adaptive Design: Knowledge checks at the beginning of each section allow learners to test out of content they have already mastered, enhancing engagement and reducing learning fatigue.
- Course Ownership Split: ECCRT handled source content creation and eLearning development. Boehringer Ingelheim provided the course design template, storyboarded the module, and conducted the final quality check.
- Collaborative Review Process: Two structured review rounds were planned, ensuring both parties had sufficient input before final development.
