Course Description

This Introduction to Statistics course is designed for people that have little to no background in statistics. The course will focus briefly on types of study designs, followed by explaining the basic principles involved in analysing data (descriptively and drawing inference). First, basic statistical principles and statistical tests will be discussed and next those tests will be discussed in the context of clinical studies.   The course aims to provide a solid background in basic statistical concepts, enabling participants to critically read and understand the statistical content of scientific papers, particularly those focusing on clinical trials, with an emphasis on interpreting the results. Additionally, it covers the essential steps involved in designing a study and equips participants with the skills to correctly report the results of statistical analyses.
